About

Hello and welcome to my amateur radio site!

My fascination with radio began when I was a kid—attempting all kinds of hacks and methods just to pick up distant AM/FM stations and catch their call letters. Around age 10 or 11, my uncle gifted me a CB radio, and that really fueled my passion.

In my late teens, I even auditioned for entry into the Columbia School of Broadcasting. I quickly realized that being a DJ wasn’t for me—I was too shy to perform and never quite embraced putting myself out there. (They used to joke that I had the “voice for radio,” though!)

Years later, once my kids were grown, I decided it was time to stop delaying and finally earn my amateur radio license. In late 2023 I began studying for the Technician license—and in January 2024, I passed. I then pushed a little farther and earned my General license a month later. Truth be told, I likely would’ve pursued amateur radio years ago, but the Morse code requirement (CW) held me back. I wasn’t into it, and it discouraged me from diving in sooner.

As for the call sign W4NNX—if you’re from the Atlanta area, you may remember WNNX (“99X FM”), a popular radio station in the 1990s and early 2000s. I grew up tuning in, and so when the opportunity arose to pick a vanity call sign, W4NNX just felt perfect.

That’s a bit about me—thanks for sticking around this far.

73s!

Catch you on the air.
